This medication works by inhibiting ovulation and preventing the fertilization of eggs by sperm, thereby serving as an effective means of birth control. Additionally, it may offer protective benefits against ovarian cancer, making it a valuable option for some women. The tablet can be consumed whether or not food is present, but it is important to take it consistently at the same time each day to maximize its effectiveness. It should be initiated on the first day of your menstrual cycle and continued for a full month, with a new pack started immediately after the previous one is finished. In the event of vomiting within four hours of taking a dose, another tablet should be taken to maintain efficacy. If a dose is missed and more than 12 hours have passed, it is recommended to use alternative contraception, such as condoms, for the following two days. While some may experience side effects like nausea, headaches, breast tenderness, and weight increase, it is advisable to inform your healthcare provider if these symptoms are bothersome or if there are any unusual signs like persistent spotting, limb swelling, or breathing difficulties, as these could indicate more serious conditions like blood clots. Prior to starting Smartilon 30, discuss your medical history with your doctor, particularly if you smoke, are over the age of 35, or have had a prior heart attack or cancer related to the reproductive organs. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels may be suggested during treatment.
