Clopitab 150 Tablet is classified as an antiplatelet medication, functioning primarily as a blood thinner. Its main purpose is to inhibit the formation of harmful blood clots within blood vessels, which subsequently reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes. This medication is frequently prescribed to individuals identified as being at a heightened risk for heart disease. High-risk patients may include those suffering from peripheral vascular disease (characterized by reduced blood circulation due to constricted blood vessels), individuals who have recently experienced a heart attack or stroke, those with arrhythmias, and patients who have had certain cardiac interventions such as stenting. Clopitab 150 may also be employed alongside other treatments for managing conditions like unstable angina and the aftermath of a heart attack. The tablet can be consumed with or without food and is best taken at a consistent time each day. Persistence in taking this medication is crucial, even if one feels well, as discontinuation may heighten the risk of experiencing a heart attack or stroke. Bleeding is a common adverse effect associated with this medication, which may manifest as easy bruising, nosebleeds, blood in urine or stools (including dark stools), or heavier menstrual bleeding in females. In the case of injury, there may be a prolonged duration for bleeding to cease. While these bleeding incidents are often mild and self-limiting, it is advisable to consult a healthcare provider if the bleeding is persistent or causes concern. This medication is contraindicated for certain individuals, particularly those who are currently bleeding internally, such as from a stomach ulcer or intracranial hemorrhage. Prior to initiation, it is important to inform your physician of any history of bleeding disorders or recent serious injuries or surgeries. Temporary cessation of the medication may be warranted before planned surgical or dental procedures.
