BUDETROL 400 (Formoterol (6mcg) + Budesonide (400mcg))

BUDETROL 400 R/C is indicated for the management of asthma symptoms and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Asthma is a persistent respiratory disorder characterized by the constriction and inflammation of airways, often accompanied by excessive mucus production, which leads to challenges in breathing. COPD encompasses a spectrum of lung diseases, including emphysema, which presents as breathlessness, and chronic bronchitis, marked by inflammation of the bronchial lining. The formulation of BUDETROL 400 R/C combines two active ingredients: Budesonide, a corticosteroid, and Formoterol, a long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) bronchodilator. Budesonide functions by alleviating inflammation and irritation in the airways and nasal passages, inhibiting the release of certain chemical mediators that trigger inflammatory responses and allergic reactions. This action helps relieve symptoms like sneezing, nasal congestion, and discomfort in the sinuses. In contrast, Formoterol works by relaxing the muscle fibers surrounding the airways, promoting dilation and facilitating easier airflow for individuals with asthma and COPD. It is essential to follow the prescribed dosage and administration schedule as advised by a healthcare provider. Patients may encounter side effects such as oral fungal infections, headaches, sore throat, voice changes, upper respiratory infections, flu-like symptoms, cough, back pain, elevated heart rate, and tremors. While these effects often do not need medical intervention and typically resolve on their own, patients should consult their healthcare provider if symptoms persist or escalate. Additionally, individuals with a known allergy to lactose or any component of BUDETROL 400 R/C should inform their physician. This medication is not recommended for children under six years. Prompt medical attention is necessary if there is deterioration in breathing or if nocturnal asthma symptoms increase. Routine monitoring of potassium levels is advised as the medication may lead to hypokalemia. Inform your physician if you have existing medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, osteoporosis, or any thyroid, lung, heart, liver, or adrenal issues before initiating treatment. Prolonged use of LABA medications may be associated with increased heart rate, chest pain, hypertension, and other cardiovascular symptoms.
